Don Imus returned to the airwaves Monday eight months after his dismissal for racist comments about a female basketball team, and did so with two black comedians.
Among the guests of the day Imus had two presidential candidate, Democrat Chris Dodd and Republican John McCain. And just as it did several times after the incident that cost him his job, the prominent speaker condemned her controversial comment earlier this year and claimed to have learned their lesson.
"No way out I saw him in a sort of tour to offer a bunch of unconvincing excuses for making an essentially reprehensible statement about innocent people who do not deserve to be mocked," said Monday andalusia debut at WABC-AM.
Again, the players apologized to the Rutgers basketball team and called the ensuing furor a "experience that changed my life."
"You'll say anything in my life that lead to these young Rutgers regret or feel foolish for having accepted my apology and forgive me," he promised. "No one else again to say anything in my program that might lead someone to feel they deserved a second chance."
Its reappearance on Monday seemed improbable at the height of the scandal after he called the athletes' head desgrenada harlots. " CBS Radio dismissed him on April 12, eliminating its "Imus in the Morning" which was transmitted by more than 70 stations and the MSNBC cable network.
Shortly after beginning his program at 6 am, Imus introduced his new classmates, including black comedians Karith Foster and Tony Powell.
In the air, said that each time angered by his dismissal, "which reminded me of not having said what I said, we would not be having this discussion."
